Pinterest Inspiration

The other day I found a saying on Pinterest and I really liked it.  It said, "Together is our favorite place to be" and thought that's a perfect family statement.  It describes exactly how we feel about our family.  So on a Saturday J was home I made a quick kid free trip into Michael's to get a few supplies.  Having a coupon in hand I think I spent under $10 on everything.  It's a real treat to go into a store and come out without breaking a sweat from lugging 3 very wiggly children in and out with me.  I even walked the down some of the aisles and browsed a minute...it was great!  So, after a couple days of deciding what to do and not wanting to mess up a blank canvas I just dove in.  I used acrylic paints in blue, buttermilk, black, and holiday red.

I'm not in love with all my lettering.  I did it all free hand. I've been researching Pinterest on the how to's of lettering.  I know there's a way that I can do it and it look cleaner.  I'm always interested in what works for others, so if you have any advice let me know.  But there are things I really do like about it. I like the colors and I like that I have a piece of art that didn't blow the budget.  And for my first one I'm pleased and one thing I did like is how much I enjoyed painting and creating it.

DIY: Burlap Wreath

I love to decorate with burlap and when I found this great idea for a burlap wreath on Pinterest I was hooked! So after pinning it, I followed the link over to the Top This Top That blog, where I was pleasantly surprised at how easy this wreath is to make! Seriously, it was so simple and I only needed 3 items to make the wreath. Check it out for yourself here!

So I swung by Hobby Lobby and picked up a metal wreath form, burlap ribbon(found it in the floral dept too), and a little embellishment and I was on my way. I was able to start and finish it while the twins were napping last Saturday. So with a quiet house I started looping the burlap through the wire...

pulling and fluffing as I worked it top, miidle, & bottom. Once the wreath was finished I fluffed a little more. Then tied some bright summery flowers with twine and hung it on our front door.

It makes a great summer wreath, but it could work with any season with a few changes to your embellishments. I love it when I can make something that works all year round. Oh and be sure to check out the Top This Top That blog, she has lots of great inspiration and ideas for making your home beautiful.

Decoration Inspiration

I have been working on something that I'm going to get to share on here in a few days, but it got me looking for some decorating inspiration. I found this really great picture from the Country Living site. Just looking at this inspires me to organize, decorate, and cook an amazing meal. I want to sit down that chair, scoot up to the desk, and write a recipe! I am going to have to make room for a space like this!

I am wanting to completely revamp our bedroom. Right now our bed is on the floor just sitting on the box springs. I like things simple. I prefer less clutter and clean lines. This master bedroom is just that...simple and comfortable with a romantic touch. Everything I imagine our bedroom should be. I found it here--http://www.easy-decorating-ideas.com/master-bedroom-decorating-ideas.html--along with a few other great ideas for decorating a master bedroom.

It's good to get inspired!
